Questions about the status of antique
vehicles have been circulating in our club, so here is the latest info re
the situation in Virginia
Thought you might wish to pass this number along to all
of your club members and car friends. Apparently DMV started to listen and
has posted a message stating that you do NOT have to have a state
inspection or pay $50. This message which is at the number listed below, and
is listed on your DMV form clarifies this.

It's a bit late, but it may be helpful to those who are confused about
the process due to that poor DMV cover letter. Please pass this along to help your fellow
hobbyists understand that Virginia DMV is not entitled to any fees for
vehicles that are already registered as antique nor do they need to have
their car inspected.
Everyone with an antique vehicle
registered will receive this letter and form. Simply sign your name
attesting that your vehicle has operable safety equipment for the year
in which it was manufactured, have it notarized, and mail it to DMV. I
suggest you mail them certified.
Also, if you have multiple
vehicles I suggest you wait until you receive a form for each, so you can
have them all notarized at the same time.

Club Council of Central Virginia.
